Installing or Removing Transceivers and
Connecting Cables
If you installed a media-flexible X2 10GbE module, you can now install a
copper or fiber optic transceiver to enable network connectivity to a port.
N o t e
You can install or remove a transceiver without having to power off the switch.
Use only the ProCurve supported transceivers (see
Installing Transceivers
To install a transceiver:
1. Remove the port cover on the transceiver slot by squeezing the metal tabs
2. Slide the transceiver into the empty slot until it stops.

3. Push firmly until you hear a click and the gasket seat against the bulkhead.

4. If your transceiver has a bail, move the bail up to lock the transceiver in

When switch power is on, the Link and Activity LEDs will come on for
approximately two seconds and then go off. This is confirmation the
transceiver is installed.
