Setting Basic System Information

Setting Basic System Information
The first, and only essential, task in basic system configuration is assigning a
Management IP address to the switch. This is the IP address that you use to
access the ProCurve Switch 8100fl on the network. You must enable the
management port and you must enable telnet in order to access the switch
remotely.
Follow the procedures in this section to set the following system information:

This section assumes a basic understanding of CLI commands, modes, and
procedures. For more detailed information, refer to the Management and
Configuration Guide on the Documentation CD-ROM that comes with your
switch.
The running configuration remains in effect only during the current power
cycle. If you power off or reboot the switch without saving the running
configuration changes to the Startup configuration file, the changes are lost.

Setting the Management Module IP Address

To set the system IP address and enable Telnet access to the switch:
1. From the Exec (>) prompt, enter the enable command to get to the
