3. Installing Fan Trays

Each ProCurve Switch 8100fl chassis is shipped with two fan trays to provide
cooling for the modules. Each fan tray assembly is installed below the vertical
slots. The fan tray assembly is hot-swappable so you can replace the assembly
yourself while the switch is powered on.
N o t e
To ensure that the fan tray assembly can provide adequate cooling, always
provide a minimum of 3 inches (7.62 centimeters) of clearance behind the
chassis. Adequate ventilation is provided from the front as long as you
maintain sufficient clearance to add or remove modules.
To install a fan tray (5069-7936):
1. Align the fan tray guides with its corresponding slot and push in until the

If you want to change a fan tray, remove the old tray and insert a new one as
quickly as possible to maintain proper cooling of the chasis.
