High: Makes the flash level higher
than normal.
Normal: Normal setting.
Low: Makes the flash level lower than
normal.
Using an external
flash
Mode dial:
/P/S/A/M/SCN
You can mount an optional external flash.
Using an external flash increases the
amount of light and that will allow you to
shoot more vivid flash pictures than when
using the internal flash.
For details, refer to the operating
instructions supplied with your flash.

• When an external flash is mounted, the weight
prevents the lens portion from becoming steady.
We recommend supporting the lens portion
with your left hand or using a tripod for
recording.
• You cannot have an external flash and the built-
in flash strobe at the same time.
• If you use two or more external flashes at the
same time, note that the camera may not be able
to function properly, or that may cause a
malfunction.
• When the proper white balance is not set using
an external flash, set the flash mode to
(Forced flash) or
(Slow synchro), then set
the white balance using the
SET) (page 73).
