Spot metering (
)
Spot metering allows you to meter for the
subject directly in a small area of the whole
image. This lets you adjust the exposure to
the subject even when the subject is backlit
or there is strong contrast between the
subject and the background.

• When using center-weighted metering or spot
metering, to focus on the same spot as used for
metering, we recommend using the center
weighted AF range finder frame (page 65).
• You cannot select the metering mode when
using the NightShot/NightFraming function.
Adjusting the
exposure

– EV adjustment

Mode dial: P/S/A/SCN/
You can manually shift the exposure value
determined by the camera. Use this mode
when you do not get the proper exposure,
for instance, the subject and its background
have high contrast (light and dark). The
value can be set a range from +2.0EV to
–2.0EV, in 1/3EV increments.
