• If you are installing a system fan, grasp the top of the dummy fan with your index finger and thumb
and then lift the dummy fan out of the server.

• If you are replacing a system fan, disconnect the failing fan from the system board. Then, grasp the
top of the fan with your index finger and thumb and lift the fan out of the server.

6. Touch the static-protective package that contains the new system fan to any unpainted surface on the
outside of the server. Then, remove the new system fan from the package.
