Section 700 - Operation
Multiple Ringing
Description
Multiple Ringing allows CO/Exchagne Line calls into the System to be directed to ring multiple
extensions in the System. This can be very useful when anyone in a group may answer a call. This can
also be very useful at night when only a selected number of people are available to handle calls.
CO/Exchange Line Interface
Description
The System supports several types of CO/Exchange Line Interfaces including the following:
•
Direct Inward Dialing (DID)
•
Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) - Basic Rate Interface (BRI)
•
ISDN - Primary Rate Interface (PRI)
•
Loop Start
Each exchange line type supports various features such as Delayed Ringing, Night Ringing, etc.
CO/Exchange Line Interface - DID (H.K. Only)
The DID feature allows an extension to have a dedicated direct number. The dedicated number allows
calls to be made directly to the extension, without the caller going through the attendant.
The DID number may have from 1 to 4 digits (typically 4).
Each DID Exchange Line Interface card (VB-44520HK) supports up to 8 DID exchange lines.
Considerations
•
The DID Exchange Line card supports 1 to 4-digit dial-pulse (10 pps) or Dual Tone
Multifrequency (DTMF) signaling.
•
DID numbers must be between 0 and 9999.
CO/Exchange Line Interface - Loop Start
Loop Start exchange lines are supported in the System with the VB-44510 Loop Start Exchange Line
interface. Each card supplies 8 circuits that can be individually configured for either loop start
operation.
For S-ICX, VB-44514 Loop Start Exchange Line interface is also available. This card supplies 4
circuits.
Loop Start exchange lines are useful in preventing call collision
