NOTE Protect the slider edge with a rubber strip to avoid
denting during the oil seal's removal (5).
•
Pry off the oil seal (5) using a flat-blade screwdriver.
REFITTING
WARNING
Be careful to prevent dirt from entering slider
or stanchion.
Never reuse the fork fluid.
Replace:
-
oil seal (5)
-
dust seal (3)
NOTE Smear the oil seal (5) lightly with fork fluid before
installation.
•
Fit the following components to the stanchion (1) in the
order: dust seal (3), retaining ring (4) and oil seal (5).
•
Place the slider in a vice and protect it with the two
shells of the special tool (B).
•
Insert the stanchion (1) into the slider (2).
•
Position the two shells of the special tool (B - C) to the
stanchion (1), just below the oil seal (5).
•
Grasp the special tool (B - C) and push to drive the oil
seal (5) into place in the slider (2).
•
Remove the tool (B - C).
