Periodic Maintenance Procedures
Slide the holder belt [A] out off.
Remove number plate bolt [B] and number plate [C].
Remove the handlebar pad [D].
Handlebar Holder Bolts [A]
Handlebar Holders (upper) [B]
Loosen the front fork upper clamp bolts [A], and remove
the steering stem head nut [B] and steering stem head
Turn the steering stem nut [A] with the steering stem nut
wrench [B] to obtain the proper adjustment.
If the steering is too tight, loosen the stem nut a fraction of
a turn; if the steering is too loose, tighten the nut a fraction
of a turn.
Special Tool - Steering Stem Nut Wrench: 57001-1100
Turn the stem nut 1/8 turn at a time maximum.
Install the steering stem head.
Tighten the following:
Torque - Steering Stem Head Nut: 98 N·m (10 kgf·m, 72
Front Fork Clamp Bolts (upper): 20 N·m (2.0
kgf·m, 15 ft·lb)
Tighten the two clamp bolts alternately two times to en-
sure even tightening torque.
Check the steering again.
If the steering is too tight or too loose, repeat the adjust-
ment as mentioned above.
