Engine Removal/Installation

Engine Removal

Place the jack [A] under the frame to support the motor-
cycle.
Special Tool - Jack: 57001-1238
For engine removal, the swingarm pivot shaft must
be pulled out, causing the swingarm and rear
wheel assembly to become detached. To prevent
the motorcycle from falling, make sure to support
the frame with a jack.
Squeeze the brake lever slowly and hold it with a band
[A].
Be sure to hold the front brake when removing the
engine, or the motorcycle may fall over. It could
cause an accident and injury.

Drain:
Engine Oil (see Engine Oil Change in the Periodic Main-
tenance chapter)
Coolant (see Coolant Draining in the Cooling system
chapter)
Remove the mounting bolt [A] and remove the engine
guard [B].
Remove:
Seat (see Seat Removal in the Frame chapter)
Side Covers (see Side Cover Removal in the Frame
chapter)
Fuel Tank (see Fuel Tank Removal in the Fuel System
chapter)
Remove:
Water Hoses [A]
Bolt [B]
Radiator Screen [C]
