The VMEchip2 provides:
Local bus to VMEbus interface
VMEbus to local bus interface
Local-VMEbus DMA controller functions
VMEbus system controller functions
The MVME167 provides onboard I/O for many system
applications.
The I/O functions include:
Ð Serial ports
Ð Printer port
Ð Ethernet transceiver interface
Ð SCSI mass storage interface.
An external I/O transition module such as the MVME712X
should be used to convert the I/O connector pinout to
industry-standard connectors.
The I/O interface configuration headers are located on the
MVME167 and the MVME712X transition module.
The I/O on the MVME167 is connected to the VMEbus P2
connector. The MVME712X transition module is connected to the
MVME167 through cables and a P2 adapter board.
The CD2401 serial controller chip (SCC) implements the four serial
ports. The serial ports support the standard baud rates (110 to 38.4K
baud). The four serial ports are different functionally because of the
limited number of pins on the P2 I/O connector.
