Fuel Tank

Fuel Tank Removal

Seat (see Frame chapter)
Air Scoop [A]
Turn the fuel tap to the OFF position.
Pull the fuel hose off the fuel tap.
Gasoline is extremely flammable and can be ex-
plosive under certain conditions. Always stop the
engine and do not smoke. Make sure the area is
well-ventilated and free from any source of flame
or sparks; this includes any appliance with a pilot
Remove the fuel tank band [A] and the fuel tank mounting
bolt [B].
Remove the fuel tank.
Drain the fuel tank.

Fuel Tank Installation

Check the rubber dampers [A].
If the dampers are damaged or deteriorated, replace
Be sure the fuel hose is clamped to the fuel tap to prevent
Insert the fuel tank breather hose outlet end into the num-
ber plate hole (see Cable, Wire and Hose Routing Section
in the General Information chapter).

Fuel Tap Removal

Remove the fuel tank and drain it.
Remove the mounting bolts and take out the fuel tap.

Fuel Tap Installation

Be sure the O-ring is in good condition to prevent leaks.
Be sure to clamp the fuel hose to the tap to prevent leaks.
