WARMING UP ENGINE

1) Before beginning operation, allow the
engine to warm up at idling speed for 3
minutes. (Failure to do this will shorten
engine life.) Gradually return the choke
knob to the home position as the
engine warms up.

2) Check for a steady flow of water from
the cooling-water pilot hole.
cC
A continuous flow of water from the pilot
hole shows that the water pump is
pumping water through the cooling pas-
sages. If water is not flowing out of the
pilot hole at all times while the engine is
running, do not continue to run the
engine. Overheating and serious dam-
age could occur. Stop the engine and
check to see if the water inlet on the
lower casing is blocked. If the problem
cannot be found and corrected, consult
your Yamaha dealer.
