THE NOTEBOOK PC'S POWER SYSTEM

This chapter contains information on the Notebook PC's power system, including the AC Adapter, the
battery power system, recharging the battery, power management and tips for conserving battery power
and extending the working hours. Also included is a detailed description of power management and
each of the power modes.

The power of Notebook PC is comprised of two parts, the AC Adapter and the battery power system.
The AC Adapter converts AC power from a wall outlet to the DC power required by the Notebook PC.
The battery pack is a set of Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) battery cells or optional Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH)
housed together with a battery gauge in a plastic non-flame case. There is one pack inserted in the
power bay of the Notebook PC.
In this section we will go over AC and battery power operation and explain the power saving features
that are built into the Notebook PC.
