DRIVE CHAIN AND SPROCKETS

4. Check:
9 drive chain rollers 1
Damage/wear → Replace the drive chain.
9 drive chain side plates 2
Cracks/damage/wear → Replace the drive
chain.
5. Lubricate:
9 drive chain
6. Check:
9 drive sprocket
9 driven sprocket
Worn more than 1/4 tooth a → Replace the
drive chain and sprockets as a set.
Bent teeth → Replace the drive chain and
sprockets as a set.
b Correct
1 Drive chain roller
2 Drive chain sprocket

INSTALLING THE DRIVE CHAIN AND
New
SPROCKETS
1. Install:

9 driven sprocket 2
9 lock washers 1
9 driven sprocket bolts
9 driven sprocket nuts
NOTE:
Tighten the bolts in a crisscross pattern.
2. Bend:
9 lock washer tab 1
NOTE:
Bend the lock washer tabs along a flat side of
each bolt.

Engine oil or chain lubricant

30 Nm (3.0 m·kg, 22 ft·lb)
