Tips
• "VIRTUAL A", "VIRTUAL B" and "HP
VIRTUAL" are effective only when a multi channel
source is played.
• As the sound field for DVD function differs from that
of other functions, you might find different sound
field when you switch to other functions from DVD
function (DHC-AZ3DM only).
Adjusting the graphic
equalizer and storing
You can adjust the sound by raising or lowering
the levels of specific frequency ranges. The
setting is stored as "USER EQ" in the memory.
Before operation, first select the audio emphasis
you want for your basic sound.
Use buttons on the unit for the operation.
Press EQ SELECT repeatedly to select a
frequency band, then touch PRESET + or –
repeatedly to adjust the level.
Frequency band
This setting is automatically stored as the
"USER EQ". The setting previously stored is
erased and replaced by the new setting.
To call up USER EQ
See "Selecting the sound effect" on page 60.
To cancel USER EQ
Press EQ SELECT repeatedly to select
"PRESET EQ", then touch PRESET + or –
repeatedly until "FLAT" appears in the display.
Note
The display returns to the original display if you do not
touch any button for 8 seconds.

Frequency level

Singing along: Karaoke

You can enjoy karaoke (singing along with a
disc) by setting the system to karaoke mode.
You can connect two microphones (not
supplied) to the system.
Setting the system to karaoke
mode

Press
DISPLAY.
The Control Menu appears.

Turn MIC LEVEL on the unit to MIN to
turn down the microphone control
level.

Connect a microphone (not supplied)
to MIC jack.
Karaoke mode is automatically activated
and "
" appears at the upper right of the
m
TV screen. You can also activate the
karaoke mode by pressing KARAOKE
MODE, without connecting the
microphones.

Turn MIC LEVEL on the unit to adjust
the microphone volume.

Turn ECHO LEVEL on the unit to adjust
the microphone echo.

Press AUDIO repeatedly to select the
audio setting.
For details on the audio setting, see
"Changing the sound" (page 39).
To cancel karaoke mode
Disconnect the microphones or press
KARAOKE MODE again.
You can cancel karaoke mode even when a
microphone is connected by pressing
KARAOKE MODE.
Notes
• For DVDs or Super VCDs, press AUDIO repeatedly
to select the audio setting (page 39).
For CDs or VIDEO CDs, the audio setting
automatically switches to "1/L" and the singer's
voice turns down after step 3. If the singer's voice
does not turn down, press AUDIO repeatedly to
select the audio setting (page 39).
