If you don't have a satellite or cable box, see Option A on the previous page.

Before you begin: Unplug the connections to your
VCR if you have one. (The Recorder replaces your
VCR in this setup.)
After you've completed these steps, go to page 6 if
you want to add your VCR; otherwise, go to page 7
to complete setup.

Installation Guide.
Check that the cable from the wall is
connected to the satellite or cable box
Connect satellite or cable box to Recorder
using Input 1
Connect Composite A/V cables from the satellite or
cable box's Output to the Recorder's Input 1. Be
sure to use input 1 for your cable box or satellite
receiver signal. Input 2 is for your VCR or video
camera only; see page 6 for details.
Connect Recorder to TV
Connect the Composite A/V cables from the
Recorder's Output 1 to the TV's Composite A/V
Input. Do not use an RF coaxial cable to connect
the Recorder to the TV.
Connect phone line to Recorder
Note: Your satellite or cable box may also require
a phone line. To connect both the Recorder and the
satellite or cable box to the same phone jack, use
the provided phone splitter in the phone jack on
your wall.
Choose a Control cable for channel changing
To record shows or display live TV, the Recorder
must change the channel on your satellite or cable
box. To do so, it sends a signal through either the
IR (infrared) Control cable or the Serial Control
cable. See the Installation Guide for details.
