HYDROSTATIC POWER TRAIN

DIAGNOSIS

Test Conditions:
• Tractor on level surface.
• Engine OFF.
Test/Check Point
1. Fan
2. Drive belt
3. Tensioning spring
4. Sheaves and idlers, belt
traction drive system.
5. Hydro housing exterior
6. Axles
7. Wheels and tires.
8. Axles, wheels, and tires.
Test Conditions:
• Engine ON.
9. Engine performance.

Normal
Fan in good condition and tight.
Belt in good condition, not glazed, split,
unraveled, or stretched.
Tensioning spring installed and not
damaged.
Drive sheaves and idlers in good condition
and adjusted properly.
Belt not slipping, squealing, or vibrating
excessively.
No cracks, leaks, or loose hardware.
Axles straight.
Air pressure equal in driving tires.
Driving tires have same circumference.
Wheels not bent or out of round.
Axles, wheels, and tires in good shape and
functioning properly.
• Rear wheels raised off surface with axle housings on jack stands.
Engine
running
smoothly
throttle range. See "TRACTION DRIVE
SYSTEM" on page 30.
• Front wheels blocked.
• Rear wheels raised off surface with axle housings
on jack stands.
Tighten fan.
Repair or replace as needed.
Replace drive belt as needed.
Install spring.
Repair or replace as needed.
Adjust idler assembly.
Repair or replace as needed.
Check
adjustment
idlers and guides. Adjust, repair
or
replace
needed.
Tighten hardware.
Check warranty. Repair or
replace transaxle housing.
Replace any damaged
components.
Repair or replace as needed.
Adjust air pressure.
Match tires for same
circumference.
Repair or replace wheels as
necessary.
Check axles and wheel for
straitness, check condition of
keys and keyways, washers, and
snap rings. Check tires for tread
wear and proper inflation. Repair
or
replace
needed.

Adjust, tune, or repair engine.
