Appendix A. Troubleshooting

This chapter provides troubleshooting hints and tips to assist you when you experience problems with your
drive. You might also need to refer to the publications that come with your computer.
If you encounter any of the following problems when using the drive, refer to the corresponding answers.
The DVD playback cannot resume after your computer resumes from suspend mode.
This is normal with some device drivers. The DVD playback will continue after you exit and restart the
Corel WinDVD program.
DVD movies do not start automatically when you insert the disc into the drive.
You might have chosen to always start data discs in file only mode. Refer to the Microsoft
and Support program.
A message is displayed, indicating that there is a copy protection error, and playback stops when
using the Corel WinDVD program.
Do one of the following:
• If an external monitor is connected, make sure that the external monitor is connected to a digital video
output connector on your computer, such as a High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI), DisplayPort,
or Digital Visual Interface (DVI) connector.
• Make sure that your graphics card and the Protected Media Path are working correctly when you are
using the drive on Windows operating systems.
