Glossary of terms
Multichannel digital audio encoding system.
A feature that allows parents to "lock" programmes that
they consider unsuitable for children. A "locked" chan-
nel or programme can only be "unlocked" with the spe-
cial access code.
A four-digit code stored in the Mediamaster. Used to lock/
unlock the Mediamaster.
The AGC bar will indicate the average strength of an in-
coming signal (digital or analogue) from a satellite.
Bit Error Rate. Signal quality measure.
Carrier to Noise. Signal quality measure.

same frequency band. The signals from a satellite are

Red, Green, Blue. Colour signals are routed in separate
cables in order to provide a high quality TV picture.

A serial communication standard data port.
A 21-pin connector used for connection of the
Mediamaster,VCR and TV. Also named Euroconnector or
Scrambled TV programme
Some TV programmes are transmitted in scrambled form.
Signal to Noise Ratio. Will indicate the signal quality of an
incoming satellite channel.
Sony/Philips Digital Interface Format. Digital audio output.
Speed of the digital transmission.
