The KT-384 thermal imager, or thermal imaging camera, meets the requirements of current EU direc- tives related to safety and electromagnetic compatibility. Thank you for buying our thermal imager. The KT-384 camera is a state-of-the-art, high quality measurement instrument providing easy and safe use. Familiarization with this manual will allow for avoiding errors during measurement and preventing potential prob- lems related to operating the camera.

After activating any function or performing a measurement, in the bottom part of the screen a menu appears, where each of the available functions is executed with one of the corresponding buttons: In the above example, the left button marked as Z corresponds to the "Visual" command, the central button marked as M corresponds to the "Spot"...
3 Operating and adjusting the camera Turning the camera on/off In order to turn the camera on, press and hold the button for longer than 3 seconds. A welcome logo will be displayed, followed by the results of self-test of the instrument, and after the completion of testing, the camera is ready to be used and enters the mode of in- frared image display in real time.

Pressing "Stop" ( ) or reaching 60 s ends recording of an annotation. The recording can be played back ("Play" - button ) through the speaker (5), or re- peated (button ). Pressing "Save" ( ) saves the captured image with the recorded voice annotation.

After selecting "Tamb" (Set the Ambient Temperature) - by pressing “Setup” ( ) the camera is switched over to manual mode, where the buttons "+" or "-" (buttons ) allow for increasing/decreasing the value of ambient temperature within the range of -40.0...+85.0° C. Pressing "OK" ( ) confirms the new value.
Selecting "Palette" and confirming it with "OK" causes entering the sub-menu "Select One Palette from Eight Palettes". By pressing "←" or "→" (buttons ) a colour palette can be selected for the desired mapping of temperatures. Confirm changes with "OK" SONEL KT-384 THERMAL IMAGER...

The settings menu can be left at any time without any changes by pressing the trigger switch (10). After selecting "Setup" (button ) a sub-menu is opened allowing for setting own pa- rameters of the camera (language, temperature units, time/date, type of lens, type of out- put video signal, temperature alarm thresholds) or restoring default values of settings.
The "Lens" option allows for setting the type if installed lens - choose between standard 25 mm lens (21.7° x16.4° ) or optional 42 mm lens 13. 04° x9.8° ), wide-angle 13 mm lens (40.53° x30.96° ), or telephoto 70 mm lens (7.85° x5.8 9° ). SONEL KT-384 THERMAL IMAGER...
If the 1-lens version of the camera was purchased, this option may be inactive. 3.12.6 External display monitor and selecting the type of video signal Selecting the "PAL/NTSC" option allows for redirecting display from the built-in LCD dis- play to an external display monitor as well as selecting the type of video signal (PAL or NTSC).
3.13.1 Viewing saved images or video files and removal of single files from memory Selection of "Files", and then "Images" causes displaying a preview of images recorded in memory defined as default (selected folder on the SD memory card or the built-in mem- ory, see section 3.13.4): SONEL KT-384 THERMAL IMAGER...

- After placing an SD card in the slot (14), the camera automatically switches storage over to the SD card in the last saved mode ("Common", "Folder1", "Folder2" or "Folder3"). - The camera is capable of using SD memory cards of size not exceeding 8 GB. SONEL KT-384 THERMAL IMAGER...
- Size of the built-in Uflash memory is 150 MB, and it allows for saving up to 100 images. - Selecting "Folder1", "Folder2", ... corresponds to a respective folder on the SD card named as "PICTURE1", "PICTURE2", ... In the "Common" mode, files are saved in the "PICTURE"...
In case the instrument is not used for a prolonged time, it is necessary to remove the re- chargeable batteries and store them separately. Rechargeable batteries must be stored in dry, cool and well ventilated place and pro- tected from direct sunlight. their ambient temperature must be kept below 30° C. If they are stored in high temperature for a long time, then their lifespan can be reduced due to their chemical processes. The Ni-MH rechargeable batteries can usually last for 500-1000 charging cycles. These batteries reach their maximal performance after forming them (2-3 full charge-discharge cycles).
Additionally, to achieve an accurate temperature readout, hold the camera stably and adjust focus properly (see sections 3.2 and 3.3). Before capturing the image, it is recommended to invoke the auto-calibration of the camera (by simultaneously pressing the button the trigger switch (10)). SONEL KT-384 THERMAL IMAGER...
In the mode of recording directly to the hard drive, recording and analysis is ® performed with the supplied "Sonel ThermoAnalyze " software, and is possible after in- stalling the driver provided on the DVD with software.

Kinescopic rate: defines which consecutive frame is saved (e.g. 1 - every frame; 5 - every 5th frame). In some situations there is no need to record all frames, this allows for saving disk space. Recording directly to hard disk and playing back thermal video recordings 5.5.1 Real time thermal video Command "Firewire Video..." allows for sourcing image directly from the camera. The camera must be connected to the computer through the port (11) with the supplied USB cable.

10.2 Working in intensive lighting conditions When working in well lighted places (strong sunlight or indoor artificial lighting), the on-screen image can be barely visible. An additional visor (WAPOZOSL2) mounted over the LCD display makes working in such disadvantageous conditions easier.
