What is the MW810 Mobile Workstation?

The MW810 Mobile Workstation series is one of
Motorola's highest-performing and most rugged data commu-
nication and computing solutions. It is specifically designed
for the harsh conditions of the mobile environment, which is
not suitable for conventional notebook or desktop computers.
The MW810 Mobile Workstation is a versatile three-piece
design with separate display (12.1" or 8.4"), Central Process-
ing Unit (CPU) Box and a keyboard. A choice of configurations
enables fitting the workstation to a variety of vehicle types
and customizing installations to meet specific owner needs
and specifications.
The MW810 Motorola is a multipurpose mobile computer
with capability to provide seamless mobility. The workstation
supports multiple internal radios, providing reliable connec-
tivity across a number of dissimilar public and private data
networks. Among its many communication interfaces, the
workstation incorporates video (option) and audio inputs, as
well as an internal GPS or Dead Reckoning GPS module
options, ensuring reliable and accurate vehicle location noti-
fication.
An optional Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) sys-
tem enables to capture license plate images from up to four
imaging sources installed in a vehicle. The plate numbers are
compared against data base or hot list.
The workstation is powered by a family of high-tier proces-
sors with extensive memory.
In addition to the basic multiple port connections option (the
"No I/O Expansion board" option), the MW810 Motorola is
available with three optional expansion boards:
1. The "COMM & Video I/O Expansion Board"
This option enables the connection of an additional display
(DVI) supporting simultaneous operation of two independent
users, each using a different display and keyboard. This
option also adds two Ethernet ports, one USB port, one
RS232 serial port and enables analog video camera input.
