Chapter 5. Troubleshooting

The following four types of installation problems might cause your DS4000 FC2-133
Adapter to function incorrectly:
v Hardware problems
v Software problems
v System configuration problems
v Fibre Channel problems
If you are having problems, use the following information to help you determine the
cause of the problem and the action to take.
Note: Additional troubleshooting and debugging procedures are available in the

Hardware problems

To determine if your installation problem is caused by the hardware, perform the
following tasks:
v Verify that all cables are attached securely to the correct connectors. Be sure
v Verify that the FC2-133 Adapter is installed correctly and is fully seated in the
v Verify that the Fast!UTIL data-rate setting is correct. The Fast!UTIL data-rate

Software problems

To determine if your installation problem is caused by the software, perform the
following tasks:
v Verify that the correct device driver is installed.

System configuration problems

To determine if your installation problem is caused by the system configuration,
check your server to ensure that it is configured properly. For more information, see
"Host bus adapter settings" on page 20.

that one end of the LC-LC Fibre Channel cable is attached to the optical
interface connector (located at J1 on the adapter) and that the other end is
connected to the Fibre Channel device.
