CHECKING THE THROTTLE BODY JOINTS

CLEANING THE AIR INTAKE SYSTEM
SURGE TANKS
The following procedure applies to both air in-
take system surge tanks.
1. Remove:
S front cowling
Refer to "COWLINGS".
2. Remove:
S air intake system surge tank 1
3. Clean:
S air intake system surge tank
a. Thoroughly flush out the air intake system
surge tank with clean water.
b. Hold the air intake system surge tank upside
down to allow the water to drain out.
c. Repeat the flushing steps until the excess
water is clear and free of debris.
d. Place the air intake system surge tank in an
upright position to allow any remaining water
to drain out of the lower drain tube.
e. Keep the air intake system surge tank upright
to allow it to dry sufficiently.
4. Install:
S air intake system surge tank
5. front cowling
Refer to "COWLINGS".

CHECKING THE THROTTLE BODY JOINTS
The following procedure applies to all of the
throttle body joints and intake manifolds.
1. Remove:
S throttle bodies
Refer to "THROTTLE BODIES" in chapter 7.
2. Check:
S throttle body joints 1
Cracks/damage ! Replace.
3. Install:
S throttle bodies
Refer to "THROTTLE BODIES" in chapter 7.
