Bluetooth software overview
This chapter is valid for the Toshiba Pocket PC e830W
NOTE
model only.
The Toshiba Pocket PC e830 Series has two models:
•
e830 (non wireless model)
•
e830W (wireless model, supporting Wireless LAN and Bluetooth)
Your Toshiba Pocket PC e830 has two types of Bluetooth software; one is
the Toshiba Bluetooth software, the other is the Microsoft standard Blue-
tooth software. The Toshiba Bluetooth software is available on the wire-
less model only. In other models, the Microsoft Bluetooth icon appears
and some Bluetooth features are functional, but these do not work without
an available Bluetooth device.
This section describes the Toshiba Bluetooth software only.
Specifications
By enabling the Bluetooth device on your Toshiba Pocket PC e830W, you
can communicate with Bluetooth-enabled PCs, modems and other
peripherals and chat with other Toshiba Pocket PCs. Although you have
access to many Bluetooth-enabled devices, you can use Bluetooth to
connect your Toshiba Pocket PC e830W to only one device at a time.
Your Toshiba Pocket PC e830W supports these Bluetooth services:

COM service (Serial Port Profile)
This service enables you to connect to a PC via a serial port to send
and receive data. COM service is also used when connecting to a PC
with ActiveSync and when chatting with other Toshiba Pocket PCs.
■
DUN service (Dial-up Networking Profile)
■
LAP service (LAN Access Profile)
■
FTP service (File Transfer Protocol Profile)
This service enables you to transfer files to and from a device with
FTP service, such as a PC.
■
OPP service (Object Push Profile)
This service enables you to connect to another Toshiba Pocket PC or
