BEFORE CALLING FOR SERVICE
Check the following list to be sure a service call really necessary. A quick reference to this manual may
help you avoid an unneeded service call.
THE AIR CONDITIONER WILL NOT OPERATE
Check if...
Wall plug disconnected. Wall plug disconnected.
House fuse blown or electric breaker tripped. House fuse blown or electric breaker tripped.
Unit was turned off and then immediately on. Unit was turned off and then immediately on.
Power switch is OFF position.
Control knob set warmer than room temperature. Temperature set warmer than room temperature.
AIR FROM UNIT DOES NOT FEEL COLD ENOUGH
Check if...
Fan speed set in low .
House fuse blown or electric breaker tripped.
The temperature set too warm.
Room temperature below 61°F(16 ).
Temperature sensing tube touching evaporator coil,
located behind front grille.
THE AIR CONDITIONER COOLING, BUT ROOM IS TOO WARM-ICE
FORMING ON COOLING COIL BEHIND INLET GRILLE.
Check if...
Outdoor temperature below 70°F(21 ).
Air filter may be dirty.
House fuse blown or electric breaker tripped.
The air conditioner set too cold for night-time
cooling.
THE AIR CONDITIONER COOLING, BUT ROOM IS TOO WARM
Check if...
Dirty air filter-air restricted.
The temperature set too warm.
House fuse blown or electric breaker tripped.
Front of unit is blocked by drapes, furniture, etc.
Air distribution is restricted.
Doors, windows, registers, etc. open, cold air escapes.
Unit recently turned on in hot room.
THE AIR CONDITIONER TURNS ON AND OFF RAPIDLY.
Check if...
Outside temperature is extremely hot.
NOISE WHEN UNIT IS COOLING
Check if...
Sound of fan hitting water-from the moisture removal system.
Window vibration-poor installation.
Then...
Push plug firmly into wall outlet. Push plug firmly into wall outlet.
Replace fuse with time delay type or reset circuit breaker. Replace fuse with time delay type or reset circuit breaker.
Turn power switch the ON position.
Turn unit off and wait 3 minutes before restarting. Turn unit off the wait 3 minutes before restarting.
Set the temperature lower .
Then...
Set fan speed to high .
Set the unit to lower temperature.
Cooling may not occur until room temperature rises above 61°F(16 ).
Remove front grille, and straighten tube away from evaporator coil.
Then...
To defrost the coil, set the air conditioner to fan mode.
Clean filer. Refer to maintenance section of owner's manual.
To defrost the coil, set the air conditioner to fan mode.
Then...
Clean air filter. Refer to maintenance section of owner's manual.
Set the unit to lower temperature.
Clear blockage in front of unit.
Close doors, windows registers, etc.
Allow additional time to remove stored heat from walls, ceiling, floor
and furniture.
Then...
Set fan speed to high speed to bring air past cooling coils faster.
Then...
This is normal when humidity is high. Close doors, windows and registers.
Refer to installation instructions or check with installer.
