Before installing the BladeCenter JS20
Type 8842, you should have completed
the following procedures:
• Installed and configured the rack according
to the documentation that came with the rack.
Installed and configured
the BladeCenter unit
into the rack. See the documentation provided
with the BladeCenter unit to install the unit
into the rack.
• Supplied 200 - 240 V ac to the BladeCenter unit.
Install options into the blade server:
• Drives
• Memory modules
• I/O expansion card

Configure the BladeCenter components for

    To obtain a new system board, you must order a new blade server. The replacement system board comes attached to the new blade server. To order a blade server, contact your IBM marketing representative or authorized reseller. Important: After you replace the system board, you must either update the new blade server with the latest firmware or restore the pre-existing firmware from a diskette or CD image.

    Your blade server contains firmware code. In addition, the service processor in your blade server comes with its own firmware code. IBM will periodically make firmware updates available for your blade server and the service processor. You can maintain the latest levels of firmware code for your blade server and the service processor in your blade server by installing firmware updates as they become available.
