Caring for the Combo II Drive

To protect your drive during operation, observe the following precautions:
v Remove the disc from the drive before moving the drive.
v Do not insert foreign objects into the drive.
v Do not stack objects on the drive.
v Do not remove the drive cover or attempt to service the drive.
v Do not operate the drive under any of the following conditions:

Cleaning the drive

Wipe off soil on the drive using a soft cloth. If soil is persistent, use a cloth
dampened with a diluted neutral detergent after squeezing all the water out. If
liquid is allowed into the drive, it may cause a serious malfunction, an electric
shock or a fire. When cleaning with liquid, be sure to remove the provided AC
adapter from the wall outlet after disconnecting the drive from your computer.
Do not apply solvents such as benzene or thinner. Chemical cleaners for home or
industrial use may damage the coating of the drive.

Using the drive

This section contains information on using the Combo II Drive.

Using single and double-sided DVD-RAM media

DVD-RAM media is available in single-sided and double-sided versions.
The 2.6 GB and 4.7 GB versions are single-sided. The 9.4 GB version is
double-sided. To access the data on both sides of the media, you must remove the
media from the drive, turn it over, and re-insert it into the drive.

Precautions for handling

Be careful when handling the removed disc. Debris, dust particles, fingerprints,
smears, or scratches may impair recording and playback of the media. To clean
dust or other debris, use a CD Cleaning Kit. Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the disc.
