The camera sets all
parameters for the
user, providing point-
and-shoot simplicity.
Auto
The camera uses
smaller apertures when
possible for increased
depth-of-field.
Landscape
Slow-sync flash is
expertly combined with
appropriate ambient
light exposure to properly
expose both subject
and background.
Night Scene
QQVGA, QVGA, VGA,
VGA-FINE* with audio
for continuous recording.
Unwanted scenes can
be deleted in playback
mode.
Movie
*Available only in the PowerShot S1 IS.
The user has complete
control over exposure,
selecting both aperture
and shutter speed
manually.
Manual
The user selects the
shutter speed, and the
camera automatically
selects the appropriate
aperture.
Shutter Speed
Priority
The camera uses larger
apertures for reduced
depth-of-field, bringing
the subject into focus
while blurring the back-
ground.
Portrait
Ideal for sports, this
setting uses high shutter
speeds to stop the action
of fast-moving subjects.
High-Speed Shutter
The camera sets a
slow shutter speed
to intentionally blur
moving subjects or
otherwise create
dramatic long-exposure
effects.
Slow Shutter
Easy-to-use guidelines
simplify the shooting of
aligned multiple frames
that can later be com-
bined (using bundled
software ) to create
panoramic photos.
Stitch Assist
The user sets the
aperture, controlling
depth-of-field. The
camera automatically
selects the appropriate
shutter speed.
Aperture Priority
The camera automatically
and intelligently selects
the aperture/shutter
speed combination
based on shooting
condition.
