The wheelchair you have pur- chased combines state-of-the-art components with safety, comfort, and styling in mind. We are confident that these design features will provide you with the conveniences you expect during your daily activities.

    I I . S A F E T Y Do not allow the wheelchair to roll freely on a decline. Do not allow the wheelchair to roll freely on an incline. Indicates that wheelchair, with similarly labeled seating system, conforms to ANSI/RESNA WC/Vol.

    I I . S A F E T Y GENERAL GUIDELINES MANDATORY! Do not operate your new wheelchair for the first time without completely reading and understanding this owner’s manual. Your wheelchair is a state-of-the-art life-enhancement device designed to increase mobility. Pride provides an extensive variety of products to best fit the individual needs of the wheelchair user.

    I I . S A F E T Y Weight Limitations Your wheelchair is rated for a maximum weight capacity. Please refer to the specifications table for this limit. Keep in mind that the maximum weight capacity includes the combined weight of the user, seating system, and any accessories mounted to the wheelchair.
  • Page 10 Contact your healthcare provider to determine your specific requirements. Do not change your seating configuration without first contacting Pride Mobility Products or your Quantum Rehab Provider. The use of anti-wheels is recommended.
  • Page 11 I I . S A F E T Y Public Streets and Roadways WARNING! You should not operate your wheelchair on public streets and roadways. Be aware that it may be difficult for traffic to see you when you are seated on your wheelchair. Obey all local pedestrian traffic rules.

    I I . S A F E T Y Stairs and Escalators Wheelchairs are not designed to travel up or down stairs or escalators. Always use an elevator. WARNING! Never use your wheelchair to negotiate steps or escalators. This may cause the wheelchair to tip or result in a fall and cause severe injury.

    I I . S A F E T Y Positioning belts should be installed as detailed in this manual. See IV. “Comfort Adjustments.” Once installed, the belt should be placed across the pelvis as determined by your healthcare provider. Anchor points of the posi- tioning belts should be located so that a projected side-view angle of the pelvis is between 45°-75°...

Reduce the distance between your wheelchair and the object you are transferring onto. WARNING! Before transferring, position yourself as far back as possible in the wheelchair seat to prevent the wheelchair from tipping forward during transfer.

    I I I . Y O U R W H E E L C H A I R USING THE LITESTREAM JUNIOR PUSH FORWARD TO ENGAGE The Litestream Junior is a manual wheelchair. Either an attendant pushes it, or you move it by gripping the hand-rims (see figure 5) and turning them in the desired direction of travel.

    Your Quantum Rehab Provider has evaluated your wheelchair and made any necessary adjustments to suit your specific requirements. Do not change your seating configuration without first contacting Pride Mobility Products or your Quantum Rehab Provider.

  • Page 28 I V . C O M F O R T A D J U S T M E N T S Seat Angle (Dump) Adjustment The position of the caster wheels affects the angle (dump) of the seat. By changing the location of the caster wheel on the fork, you change the seat angle.
  • Page 29 I V . C O M F O R T A D J U S T M E N T S Caster Angle Adjustment When you change the seat angle, you must also change SCREW the caster angle so that the caster forks remain at a 90° angle to the ground based on the side of the caster fork.

    V . C A R E A N D M A I N T E N A N C E CARE AND MAINTENANCE Your Litestream Junior requires routine maintenance checks. You can perform some of these checks, but others require assistance from your Quantum Rehab Provider. Preventive maintenance is very important. If you follow the maintenance checks in this section as scheduled, you can help ensure that your wheelchair gives you years of trouble-free operation.

    V . C A R E A N D M A I N T E N A N C E Check the caster forks. Make sure that they are at 90° alignment to the ground and check for wear and cracks. Contact your Quantum Rehab Provider for repair or replacement.
  • Page 33 V . C A R E A N D M A I N T E N A N C E WARNING! Never hose off your wheelchair or place it in direct contact with water. Your wheelchair has a painted finish that allows it to be easily wiped clean with a damp cloth. WARNING! Never use any chemicals to clean a vinyl seat, as they may cause the seat to become slippery or dry out and crack.

WARNING! A Quantum Rehab Provider should adjust the wheel lock with the occupant in the wheelchair on the maximum incline to ensure that the wheel lock catches properly.

W A R R A N T Y Pride warrants this product, so far as the same is of its own manufacture, to be free of defects in material and workmanship, when used by the purchaser under normal conditions, for one (1) year after purchase. The side frames and cross-frames are warranted for the life of the product to the original purchaser.
