An Overview of the
Cisco Unified IP Phone
The Cisco Unified IP Phone 7906G and 7911G provides voice communication
over an Internet Protocol (IP) network. It functions much like a digital business
telephone, allowing you to place and receive phone calls and to access features
such as mute, hold, transfer, and speed dial. In addition, because the phone is
connected to your data network, it offers enhanced productivity features,
including access to network information, XML applications, and customized
features.
The Cisco Unified IP Phone, like other network devices, must be configured and
managed. The phone encodes G.711a, G.711µ, G.729a, G.729ab, and decodes all
variants of G.711 and G.729. The phone also supports wideband (16bits, 16kHz)
audio.
