Installing a SIM Card
Note: The SIM card must be activated by the service provider prior to installation.
1. When the access door is open, slide the SIM card into the appropriate slot. The guide on the bottom panel inside the opening
illustrates the correct position; see page 3-7.
2. Replace the access door and tighten the screws.
There is a rubber gasket on the inside of access door that must be in place when you seal the door. This gasket performs
the sealing action for the door.
3. Power on the terminal to determine if the SIM card is working. If the SIM card is not installed properly, the
(page 11-5) will indicate that no SIM card is installed.
Do NOT power on the device with the SIM card installed and the access door still open. You must secure the access
!
door before you power on the device.
For more information about SIM cards and the GSM/GPRS radio, see

Replacing the Access Door

The access door must be replaced before resuming terminal operation. Replace the door and use the special tool from Hand
Held Products (part number 100001024) to tighten the screws.
When closed, the access door seals the memory interface from moisture and particle intrusion thus preserving the
!
terminal's environmental rating. The access door must be properly sealed before resuming terminal operation. Failure
to seal the access door will void the warranty.
