Listening to radio broadcasts
The receiver can store up to 40 stations rn the memory and recall them
by one-touch operatron.
Radio stations can be classified Into RDS (Radro Data System) statrons
and other statrons. To listen to or store RDS stations rn the preset
memory see "Using RDS (Radio Data System)". (Forthe U.K. and Europe

RDS IS a system that transmits useful Information (II- the form of digrtal
data) for FM broadcasts along with the broadcast signal. Tuners and
receivers designed for RDS receptron can extract the rnformation from
the broadcast stgnal for use with varrous functrons, such as automatrc
display of the station name
PTY (Program Type Identification)
Automatrcally tunes to a statron that IS currently broadcasting the
specified program type (genre).
PS (Program Service Name) Display
displays the statton name transmltted
by the RDS
RDS AUTO MEMORY function
Automatically selects and stores up to 40 RDS statrons in the preset
If fewer than 40 RDS stations have been stored rn the preset memory,
regular FM statrons wrll be stored rn the remarnrng places.
Radio Text function
Drsplays the radro text data transmitted by some RDS statrons when
you press the RDS DISPLAY key There IS "NO RT" display If no text
data IS transmitted
The "RDS" rndtcator lrghts up when an RDS broadcast (srgnal) IS
Some functrons and functron names may differ for certarn countrres
Before using a functron utrlrzing the RDS, be sure to perform the RDS
Auto Memory operation by referring to the descrrptron rn "Presetting
RDS statrons (RDS AUTO MEMORY)"
