THROTTLE LEVER

The throttle lever is located on the right side of the
handlebar. When pushed, the engine speed will increase.
When released, engine speed will decrease - the lever
spring pressure should return the lever to the set idle
(engine) speed. Check for proper operation and specified
freeplay of the throttle before every ride. See "2002 Model
Specifications" starting on page 161.
Lever movement should work smoothly without binding
or pinching in all lever and handlebar positions.
DANGER
POTENTIAL HAZARD
Overturning or flipping the ATV onto yourself
WHAT CAN HAPPEN
Opening the throttle too quickly and/or releasing the
clutch lever too quickly can overturn or "flip" the
ATV. You can be severely injured or killed.
HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD
Never open the throttle abruptly. Open the throttle
gradually when moving off or accelerating. Never
"pop" or release the clutch lever quickly. Always
gradually release the clutch lever.
If the ATV "wheelies" or the front wheels begin to
come off the ground, close the throttle and pull in
the clutch lever immediately.
