A multiparty call with up to five other parties in addition to yourself;
a network dependent feature.
Dual Tone Multi Frequency
Tones that are transmitted by the phone to the network. They are used to
listen to messages on answering machines, transmit codes, etc...
Digital Cellular System 1800, or PCN 1800 (Personal Communications Network).
A variant of the GSM standard using 1800 MHz frequency. One of the two
digital cellular telephone standards used by your mobile phone.
Enhanced Full Rate
A standard for high quality sound for GSM 900 networks. Your phone will
automatically switch to EFR where it is provided by the network you are
currently operating on.
Fixed Dialling Numbers, or Public Names
Function that allows you to restrict dialling to pre-selected numbers.
Global System for Mobile Communications
GSM technology is one of the two telephone network standards which
your mobile phone may function be used by your phone, depending on the
cellular network and subscription you have.
The network that you have your cellular subscription with, and with which
your SIM card is registered.
A particular area within your home network. If this feature is provided by
your home network, the home zone symbol is displayed indicating that you
are currently within the home zone.
The local network your phone is registered with, and where you may cur-
rently place a call. This may be your home network or another GSM net-
work that your home network may have roaming agreements with.
When two calls are in progress, one is active and the other is on hold.
Personal Identification Number
The PIN code is the secret code of the SIM card that once confirmed
when turning on the phone, enables the user to operate on the network.
A secret code that allows you to access certain SIM card dependent features.
A secret code used to unblock your SIM card if you or someone else
enters the wrong PIN code three times.
A secret code used to unblock your SIM card if you or someone else
enters the wrong PIN2 code three times.
Using your phone in a network other than your home network.
Subscriber Identification Module
The card with a small chip provided to you by your network operator,
when inserted in the back of your phone enables you to operate on GSM
networks and make phone calls with your GSM phone.
Short Message Service
This service when provided by the network operator enables you to send
and receive short written text message
