Troubleshooting
The telephone doesn't work
•
Make sure the phone line is correctly connected to the fax.

Make sure the fax is set for the type of line you have (pulse or
tone).

The phone disconnects while you
ar~
talking
•
If the ANS HOOK UP lamp is lit,-press the button below it repeat-
edly to turn it off. The ANS HOOK UP lamp should light only when
an answering machine is connected and turned on.
Nothing appears in the display
•
Make sure the fax is plugged in.
Can't make copies
•
Make sure the
HOOK
button is not depressed. Press it to release
if needed.
•
Make sure the handset is in its hook.
•
When making multiple copies and MEMORY FULL is displayed:
There is not enough memory for the whole document. Divide
your document into several parts and copy each part sepa-
rately.
If this message appears when your document is only one page
long, we recommend you increase the fax's memory with the
optional memory board.
Can't poll other units
•
Make sure the other fax machine is ready to send.
The paper cassette cannot be inserted
•
Make sure there is no jammed paper inside the fax. Open the
printer door, then close it and try reinserting the paper cassette.
The toner cartridge cannot be removed
•
Remove the cartridge following the instruction described on
page 2-18.
The paper cassette cannot be installed
•
Disconnect then connect the power cord. When the PLEASE
WAI.T message is no longer displayed, try inserting the paper
cassette again.
