OLLING TO
ECEIVE fAXES
The fax's polling feature-allows you to request a fax to be sent from
another fax machine. The sender only needs to make sure the docu-
ment is on the fax machine and ready to be sent: when the fax polls
that machine, the fax is sent automaticalty. The fax can poll any fax
machine that supports polling. (This process doesn't work in reverse,
however: the fax cannot be polled by other fax machines.)
Polling a Fax Machine
To poll another fax machine and receive a faxfrom it, do the
following:

Enter the destination(s) to poll. You can do this by:
Pressing One-Touch Speed Dialing buttons (with the
FUNCTION
lamp off).
Pressing CODED DIAL and entering Coded Speed Dialing codes.
(Be sure to press CODED DIAL between each code.)
Using the numeric buttons to enter one destination only. (Be
sure to press SET after entering the number.)

Press START/COPY and the fax will start to poll automatically.

The fax then begins to receive the fax.

Note
If the sender is using a Canon fax machine which has the Polling 10
function, ask him to set the Polling 10 of his fax to 255 (1111 1111
binary number).
For details on the Polling 10, refer to the sender's fax machine
manual. In all other cases the Polling 10 is not a concern.
