Keys
Two different main keys and one
emergency key are provided with
the vehicle. The emergency key
features a light, compact design,
allowing it to be carried in a wal-
let, etc. This key is intended for
use when no main key is imme-
diately available, and is not suit-
z
able for continuous use.
Should you lose your keys please
refer to the information regarding
the electronic immobilizer (EWS)
(
44).

The cases and the topcase can
also be ordered with locks for
the same key on request. Please
contact an authorized workshop
for this purpose, preferably an
authorized BMW Motorrad re-
tailer.
Locking handlebars
If the motorcycle is on the
side stand, the surface
of the ground will determine
whether it is better to turn the
handlebars to the left or right.
However, the motorcycle is more
stable on a level surface with the
handlebars turned to the left than
with the handlebars turned to the
right.
On level ground, always turn the
handlebars to the left to set the
steering lock.
Turn handlebars to full left or
right lock position.
Turn key to position 1 while
moving handlebars slightly.
Ignition, lights and all electrical
circuits switched off.
Handlebars locked.
Key can now be removed.
