The Automax function
This cooker is fitted with a special heating device
called Automax.
You simply connect this function each time you wish
to use it. See instructions on page 9, boiling/frying
with Automax. This is how it works:
Select the control setting for the heat you normally use
for simmering/frying. The hotplate starts on the high-
est heat and then, after a time, it switches over auto-
matically to the selected heat. For further details, see
page 9.
Boiling/frying with Automax
How to activate the function. Note! You have to do this
every time you want to use Automax.
Turn the control
1
(non-locking position)
Then turn the control to the required setting for
2
simmering/frying.
A and the number of the chosen setting now appear
alternatively in the hotplate display. This means that the
hotplate is at the highest heat for a while, depending on
which heat setting you have chosen. See the diagram.
When this time has expired, the hotplate switches
automatically to the set value and the letter A is no
longer displayed.
Automax does not come on again if you alter the con-
trol setting while cooking/frying. If, for example, you
have set the control at 4 and you alter this to 5, the
Automax time remains for 4. If you want to reactivate
the function, you first have to reset the hotplate and
then proceed as above.
A general rule is to use 2 to 5 for simmering and 6
to 8 for frying. 1 is best for gentle heating. You will
need to try out the different heat settings and hotplates
to find which suit you and your pans best. Below is a
brief guide to suitable heat settings and hotplates. Each
zone corresponds to a number in the tables (
