When Operating the Printer

To prevent the risk of electric shocks and personal injury, fire, and printer
damage:
Do not place any liquid container such as a vase or coffee cup on the
printer.
Do not place any metal part such as staples or clips on the printer. If a
metal part migrates into the printer, it can short internal components.
If debris (metal or liquid) migrates into the printer, switch off and
unplug the printer. Do not operate a debris-contaminated printer.
Never open or remove printer covers that are secured with screws
unless specifically instructed in this user's guide.
Do not touch high voltage components.
Do not try to alter the printer configuration or modify any parts.
Always follow the instructions in this user's guide.
CAUTION
Do not place a magnet near the safety switch of the printer. A
magnet can disable the switch, resulting in injuries.
Do not place any heavy object on the printer. An off-balance printer
can fall over and/or the heavy object can fall, causing injuries.
The fuser becomes very hot in operation. If a paper jam in the fuser
occurs, turn the power off and wait at least 40 minutes before remov-
ing the drum cartridge and touching the fuser section.
When a paper jam is difficult or impossible to remove, please contact
your service representative.
When removing a paper jam, make sure that no pieces of torn paper
are left in the printer.
WARNING!
Never throw a drum cartridge into an open flame. Toner
remaining in the cartridge can cause an explosion.
