Flow of POST

The process carried out during POST will now be described below step by step.

During POST being carried out, DO not perform key entry or mouse
operation.
Operate the SP console to start booting the system. Each device of the system is
powered on, and after the booting is ready, the following messages will be indicated on
the SP console. Depending on the system configuration (amount of memory installed,
the number of I/O interface, PCI boards connected), it may take a few minutes to
indicate the messages.

POST process then starts. During POST process, CPU or amount of memory detected
by BIOS, keyboard connected, and mouse are indicated on the display.
After a while, a message prompting a boot of BIOS set-up utility "SETUP" will be
indicated at the bottom on the left on the screen.
Boot "SETUP" when the setting is changed conforming to the environment where the
Express server is used. The booting and changing settings are not usually needed,
except when the above message is indicated with an error message. After a few second
with no entry, the system will automatically continue POST.
To boot "SETUP," press <F2> key during the messaged being indicated. About the way
of setting up and functions of the parameters, see "1.3.9. System Configuration -
SETUP -." After "SETUP" is terminated, the Express server will automatically carry
out again POST from the beginning.
IF a password is set in BIOS set-up utility "SETUP," a screen for password entry will
be indicated after POST is terminated normally. You can enter a password up to three
times. If you have failed to enter a password three times, you cannot boot the Express
server. In this case, turn off the main body and turn it on again after about 10 seconds to
reboot the Express server.
Do not set a password before installing OS.
