Skid Shoes
Thesnowthrowerskidshoes areadjustedupwardat the factoryfor shipping
purposes. Adjustthemdownward, i f desired, p riorto operatingthe snowthrower.
it isnotrecommended t hat youoperate this snowthrower on gravelas
it caneasilypickup andthrowloose gravel, c ausingpersonalinjuryor
damageto thesnowthrowerandsurroundingproperty.
Forclose snowremoval o n asmoothsurface, r aiseskidshoes higheronthe
augerhousing.Refer t o Figure 14.
Useamiddleor lowerpositionwhenthe areato becleared isuneven, s uch as
agraveldriveway.
flOTE: I fyouchoose to operatethe snowthroweron agravelsurface, keep
the skidshoes inpositionformaximum clearance b etweenthe groundand
the shave plate.
Toadjustthe skidshoes:
1.
Loosen the four hexnuts (two oneachside)andcarriage bolts.Moveskid
shoes to desired position.SeeFigure14.
2.
Makecertainthe entirebottomsurface of skidshoeisagainst t he groundto
avoidunevenwearon the skidshoes.
3.
Retighten nutsandboltssecurely.
Auger Control
Priorto operating yoursnowthrower, carefully read andfollow all
instructions b elow. Performall adjustmentsto verify your snowthrower is
operating safelyand properly.
Check t he adjustmentof theaugercontrol a sfollows:
1.
Theaugercontrolislocated on the left handle.SeeFigure 15inset.When
the augercontrolisreleased a ndinthe disengaged "up" position, t he cable
shouldhaveverylittle slack.ItshouldNOT betight.
2.
Ina well-ventilated area, s tart thesnowthrowerengine.Referto Starting
the Engine inthe Operation section.
3.
Whilestandinginthe operator's position(behind the snowthrower), e ngage
the auger.
4.
Allowthe augerto remainengaged for approximately t en (10)seconds
beforereleasing the augercontrol.Repeat thisseveral t imes.
5.
Withthe augercontrol i n the disengaged " up" position, w alk to thefront of
the machine.
6.
Confirm that the augerhascompletely stoppedrotatingandshows NOsigns
of motion.Ifthe augershows ANY signs of rotating,immediately returnto
the operator's positionandshutoffthe engine.WaitforALLmovingpartsto
stopbeforeadjusting the augercontrol.

Toreadjust thecontrol cable, loosen t heupper h ex boltontheauger cable
bracket. See Figure 1 5.

Position thebracket upward t oprovide m ore slack (or downward to increase
cable tension).
9.
Retighten the upperhexbolt.
10.
Repeat s teps2-6above to verify properadjustment h asbeen achieved.
