Setting Surface Controls

Settings
Use the chart (Figure 1) to determine the correct setting for the kind of food you are
preparing, The Simmer settings are used to simmer and keep iarger quantities of foods
warm such as stews and soups, The iower Simmer settings are ideai for delicate foods
and meriting chocolate or butter,
Note: The size and type of cookware used wiii influence the setting needed for best
cooking results,
HiGH (Hi)
MEDIUM HIGH(5-8)
MEDIUM(5)
MEDIUM LOW (2 -4)
LOW (Lo- 2)
Start most foods, bring water to a boil, pan broiling
Continue a rapid boil, fry, deep fat fry
Maintain a slow boil, thicken sauces and gravies, steam
vegetables
Keep foods cooking, poach, stew
Keep warm, melt, simmer

The cooktop has singie radiant surface elements at 2 iocations; the right rear and Heftrear
(Figure 2) element positions,
To Operate
the Single
Surface
E_ements:

Piace correctiy sized cookware on the radiant surface element,

Push in and turn the surface control knob in either direction to the desired setting
(Figure 3), Turn the knob to adjust the setting if desired, Start most cooking
operations on a higher setting and then turn to a iower setting to finish cooking, Each
surface element provides a constant amount of heat at each setting, A giowing red
surface heating area extending beyond the bottom edge of the cookware indicates the
cookware is too small for the surface heating area,

When cooking has completed, turn the surface control knob to OFF before removing

the cookware, Note: The Hot Surface indicator Hightwili come on when the controi
knob is turned on and wili continue to giow untii the giass cooktop has cooled down to

a moderate level, The light may remain on even though the controls are turned OFF,
