    First Steps First Steps Charging the Battery Charging the Battery The battery is not charged at shipment. Charge the battery before use. Place the battery in the supplied battery charger. Insert the battery in the orientation indicated by the CBD labels. The camera uses an NP-45A recharge- able battery.

    Inserting the Battery and a Memory Card Inserting the Battery and a Memory Card Although the camera can store pictures in internal memory, optional SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards (sold separately) can be used to store addi- tional pictures. After charging the battery, insert the battery and memory card as described below.

    Movies Movies Recording Movies Recording Movies Press t to shoot a movie. y REC and the time remaining will be displayed in the LCD monitor and sound will be recorded via the built-in microphone (be careful not to cover the microphone during recording).
  • Page 67 Q The indicator lamp lights while movies are being recorded. Do not open the bat- tery chamber during shooting or while the indicator lamp is lit. Failure to observe this precaution could prevent the movie from being played back. Q Vertical or horizontal streaks may appear in movies containing very bright subjects. This is normal and does not indicate a malfunction.

    Printing Pictures via USB Printing Pictures via USB If the printer supports PictBridge, the camera can be connected directly to the printer as shown below and pictures can be printed without fi rst being copied to a computer. Note that depending on the printer, not all the functions described below may be supported.
  • Page 71 Press MENU/OK to start printing. Printing can be interrupted by pressing DISP/BACK, but note that some printers may not respond immediately. If the printer stops before printing is complete, turn the camera off and then on again. After confi rming that PRINTING has cleared from the camera display, turn the camera off and disconnect the USB csable.

    Printing Pictures via USB Printing the DPOF Print Order Printing the DPOF Print Order The K PRINT ORDER (DPOF) option in the playback menu can be used to create a digital “print order” for PictBridge-compatible printers (P 89) or de- vices that support DPOF.
