Using the Fuijfilm FinePix E500 Digital Camera with Web Cam
Introduction
The Fujifilm FinePix E500 digital camera is the mid-range
solution in the Securit range. It combines simple operation
with an impressive image resolution of 4.1 Mega pixels. It
is quick and easy to setup with no driver or software
installation required.
Only PCs operating with Windows XP SP1 can take
advantage of the camera's in-built webcam mode for live
image capture.
This help document is split into 5 sections; system requirements, camera connection, camera
setup & camera operation.
1. System Requirements
IBM compatible computer with minimum Pentium III 500 MHz or higher.
Windows XP SP1 ONLY.
One spare USB port
VGA card with DirectX support.
DirectX version 8.1 or higher installed on your PC.
At least 128Mb internal memory; 256 Mb recommended.
SVGA 1024x768, real colour (24 bit).
You will need to have the latest Direct X installed on the PC. This is available on the Securit
browser CD-ROM or from the Microsoft website.
2. Camera Set-up in Web Cam mode
To set the camera to web cam mode follow the steps below:
1.
Turn on the camera in photography mode (use the bevelled wheel to select AUTO).
2.
Select the MENU/OK button.
3.
Scroll right to SET.
4.
Scroll up to SET-UP.
5.
Scroll to page 3.
6.
Scroll down to USB MODE.
7.
Select WEB mode.
8.
Click OK.
3. Connecting the Camera to the PC
To connect the camera to the PC:
1.
Plug the AC power adaptor connector to the DC In 3V socket on the camera and plug the
adaptor into the power outlet.
2.
Connect the camera via it's USB socket to a spare USB port using the cable provided.
3.
Once connected the camera LCD display will show USB Web Camera.
