The tab on the attachment separates the two layers
of fabric. The bottom layer is gathered while the top
layer remains smooth. Lets you simply gather a length
of fabric, or gather while attaching to a flat piece of
fabric.
The fabric to be gathered passes under the gather-
ing attachment, while the fabric layer that remains
smooth travels over the attachment. Differential feed
means the fabric is gathered at the same time as it is
sewn onto the flat piece of fabric.
When using the coverstitch, the knife guard is
removed and replaced with the coverstitch extension
plate. For seaming, hemming, binding and decorative
stitching.
