7. Click the Connect Now button. eManager should connect to WinCIX and operate exactly as if it were
connected to a CIX system.
Note
In the PC Local Area Connection Property Settings, you may need to set the PC Internet Protocol
(TCP/IP) properties to use the following recommended IP address: 192.168.254.251. Subnet mask:
255.255.255.0.
8. Make your Off-line programming changes from eManager.
9. When you are done programming, select Operation > Data Backup. Click the Back Up button. When
you see "Completed Successfully," it is done. This will create a new "default.dat" file that contains your
programming changes.
Important!
Data changes will not be stored in the default.dat file unless you backup your data using
eManager.
10.Log out of WinAdmin and then bring up the WinCIX application screen and click the Stop button to
stop WinCIX (see
11.To transfer the WinCIX database to a CIX system, locate the "default.dat" file in the folder previously
selected in Step 4.
12.Transfer the "default.dat" file to a SmartMedia card (progdata folder) in the CIX, either locally or
remotely, and then restore the data to the CIX using the system initialization procedure (Program 900
level 1). For more information, see the Strata CIX Programming manual, Chapter 10–Operation, "900
CIX Restart."
Stopping WinCIX
1. Click the Stop button or click
the
button in the right corner.

Viewing the CIX Release Number Supported by WinCIX
To display the CIX release number supported by WinCIX, open WinCIX and click on the WinCIX icon in
the left corner, then click on the "version number WinCIXR400XXnnn." The CIX release (R4.00) and
build (MLnnn) number that WinCIX will emulate when it is running displays.
When you run WinCIX, it always shows the same CIX release and build information even if you open a
default.dat file with different release and build numbers. You can restore the "default.dat" files created by
WinCIX to CIX systems with different release numbers per the rules that follow.
