8. Extending the detachable controller

You can remove the detachable controller from the main unit and extend
it using an optional Model 8551 extension cable.
This optional cable is five meters long, and is equipped with D-sub 15-pin
male and female connectors.
1. Turn the power off to the D-160 before connecting the cable.
2. Loosen the screw for the connector that connects the controller to the D-160,
and remove the connector.
3. Remove the controller from the D-160.
Pull the controller toward you while pushing it up with your hand to remove it easily.

4. Insert the male connector of the extension cable to the D-160's connector, and
secure it with a screw.
5. Connect the female connector on the cable and the male connector on the
controller cable, and secure them with a screw.
* If you are using a hard disk that already contains any data from when it was used
in a computer, the D-160 may not enter formatting mode automatically. In this
case, press the DISP SEL key to force the unit to enter Setup mode, and then
select "Disk Format?" to format the disk. (See page "171" for more information on
"Disk Format?" menu in the Setup mode.)
