6-11. Power Supply Replacement

When necessary, refer to other removal procedures.
HP 16500A
1. Remove the power cord, the top cover, the left side cover, and the card or filler panel in the top slot
of the card cage. To remove the covers, refer to section 6-10, "Cover Removal." To remove the
optional module card, refer to the Service Manual for each module.
2. Remove the front disk drive assembly. Leave the disk drive and bracket in one assembly. Leave
the disk drive assembly connected to the cable and set it aside. Refer to section 6-16, "Front Disk
Drive Replacement."
3. Remove the power supply rear panel.
4. Disconnect the color display to power supply cable from the power supply.
5. Remove the four power supply mounting screws.
6. Pull the power supply towards the rear panel of the mainframe until the power supply disconnects
from the mother board connector.
7. Lift the front end of the power supply and guide it out of the mainframe.
8. Reverse this procedure to install the replacement power supply. Before pushing the power supply
into place, make sure that it is properly aligned with the front connector of the mother board and
with the rail guides of the card cage.
HP 16501A
1. Remove the power cord, the top cover, the left side cover, and the card or filler panel in the top slot
of the card cage. To remove the covers, refer to section 6-10, "Cover Removal." To remove the
optional module card, refer to the service manual for each module.
2. Remove the power supply rear panel.
3. Remove the four power supply mounting screws.
4. Pull the power supply towards the rear panel of the expansion frame until the power supply
disconnects from the mother board connector.
5. Lift the front end of the power supply and guide it out of the expansion frame.
6. Reverse this procedure to install the replacement power supply. Before pushing the power supply
into place, make sure that it is properly aligned with the front connector of the mother board and
with the rail guides of the card cage.
