Grilling

Grilling over lava rock

Before beginning to operate the grill,
remove the grill racks and raise the
heating elements. Take the lava rock
out of its bag and put it into the lava
rock container.
We recommend that the heating ele-
ments are pre-heated at setting "12"
for approx. 5 minutes.
This way the food to be grilled also re-
ceives heat radiated from the lava
rock.
Meat can be lightly brushed with oil be-
fore grilling.
If you wish to add herbs to food for grill-
ing, they can be sprinkled directly on to
the meat or on to the lava rock, so that
the aroma reaches the foodstuff.
The lava rocks . . .
. . . absorb the fat which drops on to
them,
. . . are saturated with oil when the
stones become dark.
The rocks should then be changed.
Smoke will form when fat drops on to
the hot lava rocks. With the DA 8 ex-
tractor situated next to the grill, the
smoke can be removed from the atmos-
phere.

Grilling over the water trough

Before switching on the heating ele-
ments:
remove the lava rock container from
the grill interior.
Check that the drain tap underneath
is closed then fill the grill trough with
approx. 2 litres of hot water, up to the
lower marker rim.
We recommend pre-heating the
heating elements at setting "12" for
approx. 5 minutes.
This way food to be grilled is also
heated by the steam. The grill
trough will also be easier to clean.
Meat can be brushed with oil before
being grilled.
Drops of fat are cooled immediately in
the water trough, so that they cannot
catch alight.
When grilling, watch the level of
water in the trough; if necessary,
add more water.
After grilling, drain away the water
and oil through the drain tap (see
"Cleaning and Care").
